Interview with Traian Postolache, the museum manager

Project team:“First of all we would like you to tell us a few words about de significance of this museum in the contemporary world.”

Traian Postolache: “The museum has a double significance in the contemporary society: first of all, it preserves the patrimonial values through its collections, and secondly, it presents them to a wide public, through the permanent exhibition displayed in ten rooms and through the temporary ones.

With Romania’s entrance in the European Community, the role of the museum becomes more important in maintaining and promoting our national identity.”

Project team:”Who are the staff members and what are their current duties?”

Traian Postolache:”The specialized staff of the museum consists of: four specialists in muzeography, one conservator with medium studies, one with superior studies, two curators, one restorer and one librarian:

• Georgeta Sidoriuc – specialist in muzeography
• Silvia Frunza – specialist in muzeography
• Mariana Postolache – specialist in muzeography
• Aurica Postolache – conservator with superior studies
• Ilie Olarean – conservator with medium studies
• Constantin Suhareanu – restorer
• Alina Volosciuc – curator
• Elena Puhai – room curator

The members of the museum’s staff look after the items of the museum’s collections through the evidence files. At the same time, they preserve and restore them, according to the current legislation with reference to the mobile cultural patrimony, they oragnize temporary exhibitions or modify the current one based on various criteria.The approach of certain research themes is another responsibility of the staff members, and the studies which are carried out are published in specialized magazines. They also offer the visitors a professional guiding through the museum.”

Project team:“Tell us about the other section of the museum, the Art Galleries.”

Traian Postolache: “The purpose of the Art Galleries and of the exhibitions that are organized there is to promote the contemporary amateur and preofessional artists’ work.”

Project team:”What impact do you think the museum’s site will have upon the community and the rest of the world?”

Traian Postolache:”The museum’s staff members have tried to promote the activities organized here and to emphasize the patrimony of the museum through written press, radio and television. In this category we can add the work of the “Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi” National College project team – the museum’s site – which has a great importance if we take into consideration the impact the Internet has nowadays upon people all over the world. This gives to many cultural interested people the opportunity of discovering and admiring the traditional folk collections, and this is why we have offered our entire support to the students and we hope for a productive collaboration.”
